Join Our Supportive Birth Community

More Than a Directory

We are a network dedicated to supporting perinatal professionals and the families they serve through collaboration, education, and support. Members are committed to building community with each other, actively engaging in community outreach opportunities and participating in the functions of the collective to work towards its goals.

Membership Process

To join the Mt. Diablo Birth Collective, start by filling out our interest form. Our collective is for perinatal professionals serving the Mt. Diablo Region, primarily Contra Costa County. Collective members follow our Community Guidelines. The Mt. Diablo Birth Collective is more than just a directory listing.

Once you have submitted an interest form, one of our founding or board members will reach out to schedule an informal chat. This is an opportunity for us to learn more about you and how you can contribute to our community, as well as for you to understand the functions and goals of our collective.

Membership in the collective is by invitation. We genuinely enjoy getting to know individuals who are interested in our work, and we welcome conversations with prospective members. While we value these connections, not all inquiries result in membership. Invitations are extended only when there is a strong mutual fit.

What Our Members Are Saying

“When I first became a doula in 2013, membership in a group like this was invaluable to my success. I am so glad to a part of something like that again, now as a midwife!”

“I love collaborating with other professionals instead of competing. Why fight over a slice of a pie, when working togeher we can make the whole pie bigger.”

Common Questions About Joining

Explore the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about becoming a member of our collective.

Is membership open to everyone?

Membership is by invitation only and intentionally limited in size. This allows us to build trust, maintain accountability, and ensure meaningful participation among members.

Why is membership invite-only?

We believe strong professional communities are built through relationships, not volume. Keeping membership small helps us foster trust and accountability, create safer, more supportive spaces, avoid transactional or competitive dynamics, and sustain the capacity of volunteer leadership.

What will be required of me if I join?

Our members are asked to regularly attend member meetings, community outreach events, and participate in board postions or committees as they are formed.

Is there a membership fee?

Yes. Annual dues are set by the Board and support programming and events, administrative costs, community outreach and education and Collective sustainability.

Dues do not guarantee referrals, clients, or leadership roles.

Can I attend events if I'm not a member?

Feel free to meet us at an outreach event like the farmer’s market! Member meetings are open to current and prospective members. Meet and Greets with prospective families are only open to current members.

How can I contribute to the collective?

Members can contribute by participating in outreach events, sharing knowledge with the collective and families, and collaborating on projects that enhance our community’s mission.

What support does the collective offer to new members?

New members receive access to our members only section of the website where they can add events to the public calendar, see upcoming member meetings and events, and create their listing in the directory. Everything is easily accessible to get you integrated into our collective.

How often does the collective meet?

We hold monthly meetings for members to connect, share updates, and discuss upcoming initiatives. Meeting details are shared via our member portal.

Can I update my profile in the provider directory?

Yes, members have access to a secure portal where they can update their profiles and manage their information in the provider directory.
